Thank you!

I forgot to mention this before.

I have rec’d quite a few packages recently with NO customer name, just my name. This does me no good if I need to know who it is for, for a custom!

I even have a wrap here with No name, not even a return address. ??

If you have a custom slot YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND ORDER # with your package. If you don’t, this WILL delay your order.
As I will have to do a lot more work trying to figure out what goes where.

Thank you all for your understanding & cooperation!!
Andrea

Good morning everyone,
I wanted to update everyone currently waiting for their custom to be sewn.
I was hoping for a much more productive work week, last week…but that didn’t happen. The transition to full day Kindergarten was much more difficult than I had anticipated for my daughter.
I am hoping for a much smoother work week this week.
With that said, there are many carriers on the machine at once right now.
I will be finishing the following this week-
Rhaylynn
Joelle
Meredith
Gillian
Stacy

I will be working on others once the above are completed.

I will be taking two days a week to ship out orders.
I will ship on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
I found i’m wasting a lot of time running to the PO every day. So to be more efficient they will get shipped on the respective days.

One other thing I want to remind people of…
Your wait time(4-6wks) does not start until I have ALL of your fabric/wrap in hand AND you give me your order info.
It does not start the day you purchase the slot.
If it takes you 3wks to get me fabric, that means your order wait time starts 3wks after you purchased your slot, in essence making your wait time 9wks if you add the 3wks to the 6wks. This is the only fair way to do it for everyone.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding during this transition period.

Please email me- dreamcarriers@gmail.com with any questions!

Thank you so much!
Andrea

I have been wanting a structured/padded waist option for a while now. I have bursitis in my hips and really don’t like the firm structured padding on my hips, so I normally use padded waist carriers.

I have a big 9mo old(almost 20lbs I think) and we need a firmer waist than the padded, but I didn’t want the structured waist on my hips. So I decided a combo of both would be perfect! 🙂
I love it so far & plan on making all of my future carriers with the combo waist.

It is available on any orders for an additional $10.

Thank you!

I’m always trying to make ordering a Dream Carrier easier for people.

I know all the options can be confusing to new customers, so i’m going to try to give you a guide below.

  1. Decide if you’d like a Mei Tai( 4 tying straps, no buckles), a Half Buckle(shoulder straps tie, waist buckles), or a Full Buckle(all straps buckle, no tying).
  2. Select the body design/size you’d like. This is determined by the size of your baby that you will want to carry. You can see the previous post for what I recommend for different ages.
  3. Decide if you plan on using the carrier for primarily front or back carries. If you plan on doing an equal amount of both, i’d suggest the straight shoulder straps. If you know it will only be for back carries, i’d suggest the contoured Neo shoulder straps. Neo straps will work for a front carry, but require the chest strap, as they are unable to be crossed in the back.
  4. Do you want a hood for sleep support or shade? Some body styles include a hood in the price, others don’t. You can see the previous post to see which include it. But you can get a hood on any Dream Carrier.
  5. Decide if you want a padded(softer) or structured(firm) waist. With a padded waist you can wear the carrier apron or non apron. With the structured waist it is worn non apron style. Both waists are available as contoured or straight. This is a personal preference for customers. I’ve been told contoured waists work well for most people. A structured waist will give you more support for heavier babies.

Those are the main selections you’ll have to make if you get a custom Dream Carrier.

There are a handful of other ‘add-ons’ that will be available as well.

  • Webbing or Fabric Chest Strap(webbing chest strap included with the standard Neo)
  • Applique or Embroidery work
  • Roll up storage strap
  • Elastic for rolling up loose webbing(only included on the Neo)
  • Toy/key loop

I hope this helps when trying to figure out what to order on your custom Dream Carrier. 🙂

I am going to try to help you figure out what kind of Dream Carrier you would like for your custom.

Please be aware the information below is just a suggestion and I can not guarantee what I suggest will be the best for you or your child.

With that said, here goes nothin! 🙂

First, answer the questions below to figure out if you want a full buckle, half buckle, or mei tai.

Who will be wearing the carrier? How big are they?
Depending on your size you may want petite or plus shoulder straps on a full buckle DC. Standard size should fit women sizes US 8-18. If you fall below or above that range, please order accordingly.

Who will be riding in the carrier? How big are they?
I offer many different body sizes. And you can see a chart here that helps narrow down which might work best at what age.

Carrier Size Body Height Body Width Suggested Age Other Info
16in Original 16in 16in 12wks-18mo Does not include hood
18in Original 18in 18in 18mo-3yrs Does not include hood
20in Original 20in 20in 3yrs-5yrs Does not include hood
16in Petite Toddler 16in 17in 9mo-2yrs Hood included
17in Petite Toddler 17in 17in 1yr-2yrs Hood included
18in Toddler 18in 20in 2yrs-4yrs Hood included

Do you plan on wearing this on the front or back? Or Both?
If you are looking for a back carrier, I would suggest the Neo with it’s contoured shoulder straps. They really make back carrying a dream! However when wearing your baby on front you will need to use a chest strap to keep the contoured shoulder straps in place. You are not able to cross the straps in the back with the contoured straps.
If you plan on doing front and back carries, i’d highly suggest getting the regular straight straps. You have the option of getting buckle straps or long mei tai straps.

What will you be using the carrier for? ie…errands, hiking, naps, etc
If you’re looking for something quick for errands, i’d suggest a Full Buckle Dream Carrier. This is available with a soft padded waist or a firm structured waist. The structured waist is available on the half buckle DC or the DC mei tai as well.

Do you plan on using the carrier for extended periods of time? over an hour?
I find when wearing for longer periods of time I prefer to have a half buckle with structured waist or a mei tai with structured waist. I like the extra support of the long tie straps that you get with a MT or HB.

Still confused? 😉

Here are your carrier choices-

  • Mei Tai(80in long tie shoulder straps & 70in long structured or soft padded waist strap)
  • Half Buckle(80in long shoulder straps, buckle structured or soft padded waist)
  • Full Buckle(straight straps, soft padded or structured waist)
  • Neo(contoured buckle shoulder straps, buckle structured waist(contoured or straight)

Once you know what kind of carrier you want(HB,MT, FB, or Neo) decide on the size(16, 18, 20in Original; 16, 17in Petite toddler; 18×20 Toddler).
The carrier body size is designed around the size of your baby. Not you! 🙂
Then decide if the standard strap size is ok for you. If not request petite or plus size straps.
If you are getting a FB or Neo you also will have the option of the straight or contoured waist. I’ve worn both and can say personally I prefer the contoured when i’m fluffier(postpartum) and love the straight when i’ve finally lost all the baby fat. 😉 Seriously though, it is a personal preference. I think the straight is more user friendly, works better with men and women. 🙂

Finally you have the extra choices.

The Original DC’s do not include a hood(they are curved at the top & have the headrest). The petite toddler & toddler DC do include a flat hood.
You may add a flat hood or hoodie to any size original DC for an additional cost. You may also have a hoodie on the PT or Toddler DC instead of a flat hood for $5 more.
You may get a snap on hood on any of them for an additional cost.

Waist pocket- I do offer a waist pocket on the structured waist DC for an additional cost. It isn’t very large, but will hold some cash/cards, cell phone, keys, etc.

Chest straps- webbing chest straps come with the Neo. You may order a fabric or webbing chest strap with any DC.

Chest straps, elastic, roll up storage straps, & suck pads are added on after the carrier is completed upon checkout. You do not need to decide on all of that until then.

And of course this doesn’t even include picking out fabric for your custom DC! Because I can’t help you do that. 🙂 I can help with links to stores though. Just ask, or see the link file in the Yahoo group.

If you are having a custom made and live in the US, I can almost always fit your fabric remnants in with your carrier in the flat rate box.

BUT if you live outside of the US, I will give you an option at checkout to have your remnants returned.  It will cost $5 to return them via Priority International mail and $2 more if you choose to have your package shipped via First Class International.

I have been trying to ship them with, but it bumps the shipping up into the next price bracket and I can’t keep eating the cost on this.

Thank you for your business!
Andrea

I wanted to let everyone know that I only have black and jalapeno brushed canvas right now.

The mill is out of a lot of brushed canvas colors until Sept/Oct.

I do have some regular brown canvas and hope to find some other colors that i’d like to stock.

I will update again when I get more in stock.

Thanks!

Hi all,
I wanted to give an update on customs for this week and next.
I have been working on prepping orders, so they are ready to go when I get to them(like washing fabric, cutting fabric, etc).
I am waiting on a hood hardware order, which I had hoped would be here already this week.
I will most likely be having multiple orders ‘on the machine’ at once, since I can’t “complete” it until I receive the hood hardware.
So if you see your order status as ‘on the machine’, please note, it may still be a few days, or since the weekend is coming, most likely next week when it is complete. Unless I get the order today, then I can keep going. I just wanted to give a heads up, so no one thought it would be done today or tomorrow if it says on the machine. Like I said, the only way that will happen is if my order gets here today(let’s hope!).

Thank you all for your patience!!

On a happier note, I am now entering my second trimester and feeling a lot better!! No more nausea!! 🙂 YAY! So i’m hoping sewing goes a lot faster this next month! 🙂

Thanks again,
Andrea
